Jarmel Kizel Architects and Engineers Bestows Jonathan Gann with NJIT Scholarship

LIVINGSTON, N.J. (November 4, 2011)— Each year, Jarmel Kizel Architects and Engineers, Inc. recognizes a student of New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) with a $2,500 scholarship. This year’s recipient was Jonathan Gann of West Orange, New Jersey, a fifth year student at NJIT’s College of Architecture and Design. Gann is majoring in Architecture.

At the recent 29th Annual Student Scholarship awards ceremony, Matthew B. Jarmel, AIA, MBA, principal of Jarmel Kizel, NJIT Alumnus and Chair of the Dean’s Council, presented Jonathan with the scholarship. “Jonathan dedicated to his studies and exhibits a great deal of talent and creativity in his work. My partners and I at Jarmel Kizel are honored to recognize Jonathan with the Jarmel Kizel scholarship.” “Our firm is committed to supporting NJIT and its students and we look forward to this time each year when we can reward students for their accomplishments,” added Jarmel.

Jarmel Kizel’s scholarship recognizes a fourth or fifth year student for demonstrating academic achievement, design skill and leadership ability while completing the undergraduate program at NJIT’s New Jersey School of Architecture.

Gann is part of NJIT’s Solar Decathlon Team NJ, which worked along with a team of students from Rutgers University and more than 40 companies to design and build a cutting-edge solar powered house. The house was built on the NJIT campus and transported to the national mall in Washington, D.C. Jonathan will have the opportunity to join Jarmel Kizel’s team of interns in the summer.

In 2001, Jarmel Kizel endowed the school with a $25,000 gift, which is awarded as a $2,500 scholarship each year to a third or fourth year student of NJIT’s New Jersey School of Architecture. The scholarship is awarded on academic excellence, community involvement, student leadership and design innovation.
