Jarmel Kizel Designs Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital’s 65,000-SF Fitness and Wellness Center in New Brunswick, NJ

LIVINGSTON, N.J. (September 13, 2011)—Jarmel Kizel Architects and Engineers, Inc., a full-service architecture and engineering firm based in Livingston, New Jersey, is currently providing all interior design, architectural and engineering services for a new 65,000-square-foot Fitness and Wellness Center in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The Fitness and Wellness Center is part of Wellness Plaza, a 12-story 585,000-square-foot building, being developed by the New Brunswick Development Corporation (Devco). Located next to Ferren Mall, this project is expected to bring over 300 jobs to New Brunswick. The project will be completed by the fall of 2012.

The Fitness and Wellness Center is a joint venture between Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Fitness and Wellness Professional Services. Jarmel Kizel is providing all interior design, architecture and engineering services.

Jarmel, AIA, MBA, and principal of Jarmel Kizel. “The center will bring yet another first-class amenity to the bustling New Brunswick downtown. We are pleased to be working with Robert Wood Johnson, Fitness and Wellness and Devco, and we look forward to the completion of the project,” Jarmel added.

In addition to the Fitness and Wellness Center, which Jarmel Kizel is designing, the plaza will include a 49,000-square-foot grocery store, The Fresh Grocer, which will bring approximately 250 jobs to the city. The project also will boast approximately 1,200 parking spaces and a pedestrian bridge providing access to the New Brunswick train station platform.

The first floor of the Fitness and Wellness Center will include swimming pools and locker rooms, while the second floor will include lockers, business offices, a large cardio workout area, studios for group fitness, childcare, physical and occupational therapy rooms, a medical spa, a café and community education. For the noted work, Jarmel Kizel is providing all architectural and engineering services associated with schematic design, design development, construction documents and construction administration.
