Jarmel Kizel Tapped to Redesign BMW’s U.S. Headquarters in Woodcliff Lake, NJ
LIVINGSTON, N.J. (August 1, 2011)—Jarmel Kizel Architects and Engineers, Inc., a full-service architecture and engineering firm based in Livingston, New Jersey, has been retained by BMW North America to redesign its 205,000-square-foot corporate U.S. headquarters facility in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey. Built in the late 1980s, BMW has occupied the three-story building since 1988. The company is now modernizing the facility with a new look and feel as part of its growing investment and commitment in America.
“BMW is one of the most respected and profitable global car manufacturers, and to support its growth in the U.S., the company is addressing its current space issues at its headquarters facility,” said Matthew B. Jarmel, AIA, MBA and principal of Jarmel Kizel. “Our team of architects and engineers is helping BMW meet its needs by increasing density within the space, and also using workstations and lighting that foster open communication amongst employees. We also will use modern furniture and fixtures to reinforce BMW’s corporate brand and culture. This is an exciting project for our team.”
Jarmel Kizel’s architecture and engineering services for this project include space planning, existing conditions surveys, interior design, code analysis, building system review and construction documents.
“We are excited about the transformation of the office space to a more open and modern look,” said Ron Funderburk of BMW. “The new environment has helped improve employee collaboration and initial feedback from our associates is very positive,” Funderburk continued, “we selected Jarmel Kizel for this assignment based on its reputation of providing quality design services in the corporate office marketplace in New Jersey, as well as its expertise in maintaining daily business operations throughout the entire design and construction period.”
Matthew B. Jarmel, AIA, MBA, and Ritu Sohal—LEED-AP are managing this assignment on behalf of the firm. BMW also has retained Ferzan Robbins & Associates, LLC as project manager.
Jarmel Kizel has provided corporate interior design services since 1975, and is recognized as a leader in this industry.
