Jarmel Kizel Completes Design at Rutgers University’s College of Nursing in Newark, New Jersey

LIVINGSTON, N.J. (May 4, 2011)—Jarmel Kizel Architects and Engineers, Inc., a full-service architecture and engineering firm based in Livingston, New Jersey, recently completed the design for renovations to Rutgers University’s College of Nursing, which is located at 180 University Avenue in Ackerson Hall on the Newark, New Jersey, campus.

“Our firm has provided architecture and engineering design services for Rutgers for many years, and we are pleased to have met the university’s renovation needs for the College of Nursing,” said Matthew B. Jarmel, AIA, MBA, and principal of Jarmel Kizel.

For this assignment, Jarmel Kizel was tasked with providing a program and space plan for a 6,000-square-foot space on the second floor of the facility, which transformed the space into an open area with systems furniture, a new computer lab for up to 30 students, as well as offices for faculty and a kitchen pantry. In addition, the firm provided plans to renovate the existing first floor education training center into a lecture hall. The space was expanded by 750 square feet to total approximately 2,000 square feet occupying most of the southeast quadrant of the first floor.

Jarmel Kizel also prepared architectural and mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection documents for both projects, in addition to providing bidding and construction contract administration services.

Jarmel Kizel is an expert in architectural and engineering design in the education sector having completed numerous projects for both public and private facilities.
