Tribeca Oven calls on Jarmel Kizel for Architectural & Engineering Services for Production Bakery Expansion

LIVINGSTON, N.J. (January 14, 2011)—Jarmel Kizel Architects and Engineers, Inc., one of New Jersey’s leading full-service architecture and engineering firms, is providing architectural and engineering services for a 115,000-square-foot production bakery for Tribeca Oven. Artisan bakers, Tribeca Oven is committed to the authentic craft of small batch baking, producing all natural, high quality par-baked frozen breads and shipping them nationwide to specialty food distributors, grocery retailers and restaurant groups.

Located at 425 Gotham Parkway in Carlstadt, New Jersey, this warehouse building is connected via two enclosed passageways to 447 Gotham Parkway, Tribeca’s current, 48,000-square-foot facility. Over the last six years, the demand for Tribeca’s par-baked bread has significantly and rapidly increased and has created the need for this larger, state-of-the-art production facility.

“This is an outstanding project utilizing the full array of our services—every discipline within our firm including architectural and structural, MEP and civil engineering—is working on the design of Tribeca’s new production bakery,” commented Matthew B. Jarmel, AIA, MBA, and principal with Jarmel Kizel. “We are pleased to assist Tribeca in meeting its need for this new space and look forward to the continued success of its business.”

Jarmel Kizel’s scope of work for this project includes schematic design, architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and structural construction documents, bidding, and construction contract administration. Hollister Construction Services is serving as the Construction Manager for this project.

Jarmel Kizel also is assisting with support and coordination of production bakery equipment selection from a code evaluation standpoint, designing roughing for the equipment—gas, water, electric and structural reinforcing—and reviewing shop drawings for the equipment installation. The firm is designing footing supports for equipment foundations and reinforcements for the roof for support of new equipment and assigned penetrations. In addition, its staff is designing and specifying the water treatment system, as well as designing a steam generator that will be piped to various pieces of equipment used in the bread baking process.

“This is a major project for our company and we are pleased to have Jarmel Kizel on our professional team of service providers,” commented Marc Essenfeld, CEO, Tribeca Oven. “Since we moved from Brooklyn to Carlstadt in 2004, our growth has been incredible—so much that we need to expand into a larger and more sophisticated facility. We are excited to get the new facility up-and-running and continue to meet and exceed the demands of our customers.”
