Jarmel Kizel Architects & Engineers Completes Architectural Design for Rutgers University's Golden Dome Athletic Center

LIVINGSTON, N.J. (August 11, 2010)—Jarmel Kizel Architects and Engineers, Inc., a full-service architecture and engineering firm based in Livingston, New Jersey, recently completed the architectural design for a specialized athletic flooring system for the Golden Dome Athletic Center on Rutgers University’s Newark, New Jersey, campus. The floor has been installed over an existing rubber floor in the 11,600-square-foot athletic center.

Jarmel Kizel prepared construction documents and advised the University on types of flooring systems that would meet its goals for the project. Irwin H. Kizel, AIA, PP, and principal with Jarmel Kizel managed this assignment.

“Our long-term commitment to satisfying the design needs of our clients has awarded us yet another assignment with Rutgers, and we are glad to help the university achieve its goals,” said Irwin H. Kizel, AIA, PP.

Jarmel Kizel has a long-standing relationship with Rutgers in Newark and has completed several architecture and engineering designs for the university. Some of those projects include the design of a 15,000-square-foot renovation of office space in the Bursar, Financial Aid and Registrar’s Departments; a 4,000-square-foot building addition for the Rutgers Department of Pubic Safety; lobby renovations for the Graduate School of Management; the design for an exterior dining area adjacent to student center and cafeteria at the Paul Robeson Campus Center; the design for a computer lab classroom for fifty students at Engelhard Hall Computer Lab; and the design of Psychology testing rooms in the Psychology Laboratory; among numerous other assignments.

The fitness and wellness sector is just one of Jarmel Kizel’s niche markets. In addition to this assignment for Rutgers, our architecture and engineering services were called upon for the RWJ Rahway Fitness and Wellness Center in Scotch Plains, a 51,570-square-foot, vintage state-of-the-art hospital-based fitness and wellness center; the 20,500-square-foot “cafetorium,” which is a combination cafeteria and gymnasium for approximately 400 students at the Jersey City Charter School in Jersey City, New Jersey; for a fitness center within the basement of The Carlyle, a 128-unit apartment building located at 380 Prospect Avenue in Hackensack, New Jersey; and a recently completed fitness center for Samsung at 85 Challenger Road in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey.
