Jarmel Kizel Architects & Engineers, Inc. To Provide Architecture And Engineering Services For Ukranian Cultural Center In Somerset, NJ

LIVINGSTON, N.J. MAY 27, 2008— Jarmel Kizel Architects and Engineers, Inc., has been appointed by The Ukrainian Orthodox Church to provide architecture, design and engineering services for its new Historic and Cultural Education Center in Somerset. Jarmel Kizel will provide an array of architectural and engineering design services including structural, electrical and plumbing design as well as interior design services.

“Jarmel Kizel is enthusiastic about working on such a monumental project,” said Richard Jarmel, PE, principal of Jarmel Kizel. “The complex is designed as a multi-purpose facility that will be an invaluable educational tool and research center for members of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the general public.”

Components of this project include a permanent memorial and exhibit dedicated to the Ukraine famine of 1932-1933, space for the recognition of Ukrainian-American members of the armed forces, a traveling art exhibit and a church library and cultural center that will facilitate education and research by clergy and seminarians.

The 25,000-square-foot center is an addition to the organization’s headquarters building and will include administrative offices, museum, artifact storage for over 8,000 relics, conference facility and a bookstore. The facility is situated on the church campus, which encompasses over 76 acres and includes an administrative building, seminary, cemetery, chapel, community center and a 17th century historic home.
