Jarmel Kizel Retained By The Deron School In Montclair, Nj To Design 15,000-Sf Addition

FMONTCLAIR, N.J. (MAY 14, 2007) — Jarmel Kizel Architects & Engineers, Inc. was selected by The Deron School to design a three-story, 15,000-square-foot addition to the original 1912 school. The Deron School is a state-approved private day school, which provides programs for special needs children.

For this assignment, Jarmel Kizel will be providing full-service architectural, engineering, MEP-engineering and structural engineering services. Civil engineering services were provided by Jarmel Kizel Witczak Land Planning and Design, LLC a subsidiary of Jarmel Kizel, which specializes in civil engineering and site plan design.

The expansion is designed to improve facilities and upgrade the school to meet the Department of Education’s facility standards. To achieve these results, Jarmel Kizel will make the building handicap accessible, as well as design state-of-the-art classrooms and specialty instructional rooms for speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy and occupational training purposes.

“We are pleased to be working on such an important project for The Deron School,” said Matthew B. Jarmel, AIA, MBA, principal of Jarmel Kizel Architects & Engineers. “Our expertise in the education sector and our firm’s ability to provide the services and designs to meet the specific needs of special needs schools, makes this a very meaningful project for us. We look forward to the completion of this facility and helping The Deron School fulfill its wonderful mission.”

Jarmel Kizel also managed the entitlement process for the client by preparing necessary drawings to obtain use variances, and also developed a strategy for The Deron School’s presentation to the zoning board. Jarmel Kizel recently achieved land development approvals for the assignment and says construction is anticipated to begin this summer.

Deron Schools are state-approved private day programs established to provide educational opportunities for special-need students, ages five to twenty-one, who cannot be served in a regular classroom setting by the special education programs of their local districts. The Deron Schools are uniquely qualified to develop the academic, social and emotional potential of these children.
